And for a long time that story is true enough.
Something gets built. The business is real. The results are real. And the exhaustion that came with it feels like fair payment.

Price versus tax
There is an important difference between a price and a tax.
A price is paid once to get something. You pay it. You receive what you paid for. The transaction is complete.
A tax is ongoing. It is charged on everything you earn. Everything you build. Everything you try to grow. And if it is high enough it consumes more than you produce.
The exhaustion that felt like a price when she was building something from nothing has become a tax now that she is trying to grow what she built.
And it is being charged on everything.
Her income. Her creative energy. Her decision-making clarity. Her ability to show up fully for the people she serves. Her capacity for the next level she can see but cannot quite reach.

The ceiling that will not move
This is why high-achieving women hit ceilings that strategy cannot move.

This is not a fantasy. I see it happen in the women I work with. Often quickly. Because clearing the tax does not require adding more. It requires removing what has been taking without permission.
